In the villages of Lanka in the Godavari region, Ratna (Vishwak Sen) grows up as an orphan amidst political factional strife. His parents, Gadderaju (Sai Kumar) and his mother, are killed during his childhood, leading Ratna down a path of rowdiness and crime. Influenced by Ratnamala (Anjali), he engages in theft and rowdyism, finding pleasure in his reckless lifestyle. However, the political power struggle between Nanaji (Nazar) and Doraswamy Raju (Goparaju Ramana) in the villages draws Ratna into the fray.
With Nanaji’s support, Ratna manages to rise through the ranks and becomes an MLA, ultimately defeating Doraswamy Raju in the process. However, the entry of Nanaji’s daughter Bujji (Neha Shetty) into Ratna’s life brings about attempts to rein in his reckless behavior. Throughout the story, various questions arise: Why did Ratna kill his father Gadderaju? How did Ratnamala support Ratna as he grew up? What led Ratna to enter politics despite his involvement in petty thefts? How did he overcome the challenges posed by Doraswamy Raju’s faction? What conspiracies were plotted against Ratna, and how did he navigate them?
Additionally, the story delves into the injustices suffered by Ratna’s family during the faction wars and the events that unfolded after Ratna went to jail in a case involving his friend Yadu (Gagan). These questions are answered in the compelling narrative of “Gangs of Godavari.”
